My family originates from Bhiwani, Haryana, and relocated to Assam nearly 150 years ago. I was born in Tinsukia, a quaint town in Assam, where a palpable spiritual aura permeated our home. Our doors were always open to saints and monks, whose visits sparked my interest in Hindu spirituality. Ancient Indian History has been my passion since childhood.
In the early 1960s, my parents took us on a memorable road trip across the Northeast, acquainting us with the cultural tapestry of Assam, Nagaland, and Manipur. Later in that decade, our journey led us to Delhi, where we explored historical sites along the way. Our travels were enriched by local guides who vividly narrated the stories of Nalanda, Patna, Prayag Raj, Varanasi, and more.
Later, my focus shifted towards intertwining Ancient Indian History with Spirituality. I developed a habit of delving into books on Indian History and spiritual literature. Despite spending 18 years abroad for work, my connection with India remained strong through continuous reading about its rich history. Upon returning, I embarked on exploring challenging road trips. After extensive research and discussions, I discovered that the most daunting yet rewarding journey would be to trace the footsteps of Lord Ram during his 14 years of exile.
Determined to undertake this unique pilgrimage, I meticulously charted the route map of Lord Ram’s exile. As I delved into the reasons behind his exile, I questioned the narrative presented in Ram Charit Mans and other related texts, where Mata Kaikai’s request for two boons is traditionally cited as the cause. My exploration led me to alternative reasons and a deeper purpose behind Lord Rama’s exile.
With my wife agreeing to join me on this adventurous and challenging expedition, we set out from New Delhi and arrived in Ayodhya. Our journey covered almost 10,000 kilometers, spanning nine states. While I have documented our experiences in a book- RAM VAN GAMAN PATH, capturing the emotions and sensations in words proves challenging.
Now, I have crafted a route for others to join me on this transformative journey. It offers an opportunity to experience the route’s unique blend of spirituality, adventure, diverse terrains, and the detailed narrative of the Ramayan. The itinerary includes rituals in small temples and the largest Hindu Temple in the world. Participants will witness India’s marvels, such as Shri Ram Lalla Temple, Chitrakoot Falls, Shri Rangnath Temple, the Temple of Rameshwaram, and the southernmost point of India at Dhanush Kodi – the site where Lord Ram began building the bridge on the ocean with the help of vanars and other tribes.
